Over 80,000 fans descended onto New Jersey’s MetLife stadium, marking the climax of a hectic weekend of wrestling. Although WrestleMania has been an annual tradition since 1984, it’s only been in the last decade that other wrestling companies have sought to piggyback on the gathering of wrestling fans.

As is the way for most wrestling fans in the UK (who work, anyway), my days of watching Raw live are long gone. These days, my usual ritual the day after shows is checking the results to see what’s going where. Typically, the list of stories I read includes “Raw report”, “Superstars/dark match results” and if I’m bored enough, what they’re teasing-but-won’t-deliver for SmackDown on Friday. My last few posts have made references to attending rugby games – a little out of character, given that I’ve been a staunch supporter of Sunderland AFC for my whole life. This past weekend, I was at the Saracens vs Exeter Chiefs match to see the Sarries’ final match at Vicarage Road.
