Over 80,000 fans descended onto New Jersey’s MetLife stadium, marking the climax of a hectic weekend of wrestling. Although WrestleMania has been an annual tradition since 1984, it’s only been in the last decade that other wrestling companies have sought to piggyback on the gathering of wrestling fans.

If you’ve bought a DVD or gone to the cinema in the last decade, you’ll likely have seen an advert telling you that piracy is bad, and it’s killing the movie industry. On the other hand, there’s always the doom mongers about how things like streaming and rentals are also affecting things. After a trip to the movies today, the one thing I have to say… the cinemas are killing cinemas!
A few weeks ago, I attended the Eurogamer Expo – an annual exhibition of the year’s newly-released and soon to be released video games. In among the expected games, like this year’s entry into the Call of Duty series, the new Far Cry and so on and so on, there were a few gems that maybe didn’t get the coverage that they should have. As is the way for most wrestling fans in the UK (who work, anyway), my days of watching Raw live are long gone. These days, my usual ritual the day after shows is checking the results to see what’s going where. Typically, the list of stories I read includes “Raw report”, “Superstars/dark match results” and if I’m bored enough, what they’re teasing-but-won’t-deliver for SmackDown on Friday.
